It certainly gives an interesting outlook on facets of goldfileds history which hitherto seem to have been overlooked by those politically correct historians on the 20th century who seem to 'sanitize' history witohut due respect for the truth. I do think however that it does appear to denigrate the Chinese and what it says about females now makes me wonder whether ALL women who found their way onto the goldfields were of ill repute! Although it does appear to be comprehensive and almost definitive in its records of goldfields 'misdemeanors' to the best of my knowledge some of the most amazing and interesting accounts are not included, the exchange of gun fire between Alexander and a miscreant at Gabriels gully and the susequent gunfight between Sergeant Trimble and Burgess and Kelly being one of the most noted in Otago Goldfields history. Another instance where a shopkeeper at Switzers was shot from his horse and robbed of his money, gold and revolver also never made it into this book unless I missed the page!
