I am going to cop a bit of flak and accusations of hypocracy for the following but in the interest of debate ....... I know the guy involved and have found him to be a nice guy but to use DOC to ping a small prospector on such a large peice of ground is only inviting trouble. How much ground can you move with a 20kg dredge? My continual complaint of pegging off large and multiple areas that havnt got a hope in hell of being worked to the detriment of the locals needs looked at. Things may change soon with Crown minerals if I read between the lines of the latest reply from Gerry Brownlee from my (and others) constant *****ing about the current regime. I have been mining for 30 years all but the last 5 "illeagally" and have to say in that time I have not been near the water because of idiot bureaucracy mainly from DOC and their agendas and political manouvering. Anyway rant over I think if big areas are going to be pegged off some thought for the local small guy has to be taken account of, after all they have local knowledge and should be useful.

I feel like i have to defend the actions of my partners here. The access arrangement with DOC was site specific and following completion of the prospecting programme DOC were to fly in and inspect the site. The parties involved were given 3 days to move out but they didnt. If DOC were not informed then we could have been held responsible for their mess. Lessons have been learned. 1 - Never talk to reporters they have a habbit of making **** up.
