Anybody add to my list :
EGDing is positive because :
• Creates new wealth. • Provides employment. • Works in a type of environment that is self restoring. • Has published, supporting science on its side. • Removes metallic mercury. • Removes lead. • Can assist in removing other forms of rubbish (fishing line, fishing hooks, rusted cans etc.). • Operators can be seen as a deterent to bad behaviour simply by being present (witness). • Promote tourism. • Provide unique ecological feedback/ monitoring. • It is a healthy lifestyle. • EGD operators are nice people.

Perhaps we could add, it could be used to assist in stream bank restoration after flooding etc. Planned placement of Cobble piles could be used to act as a stream bed buffer to areas prone to significant erosion! Also as there seems to be a push for efficiency these days with rising fuel costs and that great global warming swindle! A gram of gold produced by eductor dredging would be produced with much less carbon emissions than the gold coming out of WA goldmines. Restoration of the site is very rapid, due to winter floods and the like. ED has much positive things going for it.
There is a rumor around that Dredging may be back in California possibly by April 2010, i wonder what assumptions have been made to bring this about.
