G'day, The gate across the access road into the Moonlight has been installed and will be locked in the next few days. This gate will be in place for about two months. And then will be relocated to a side road which will not effect access into the Moonlight. Its worth noting that there will probably be a surveillance camera at the gate. Miners who have claims in the area have been given a key to the gate so they can access their claims. Fossickers and tourists will not be able to get through! Regards, Rob (RKC)

G'day, The road into the Moonlight (West Coast) is open. Logging will continue for another three weeks, and until logging ends, trucks will still be using the road. Extreme care using the road on work days is essential . The road is in reasonable condition and if logging ceases soon, the road will dry out during Spring and be good for the summer months. The road past the logging is untouched and as it has always been. Its also worth noting that a significant helicopter 1080 drop has started in the Moonlight catchment. If its similar to previous drops there will be rotting possum carcasses in waterways. Take drinking water in, or, if you must drink from a stream and don't mind 1080 in the water, boil before drinking. Regards, Rob (RKC)
