G'day, New book throws into doubt Albert Hunt's place in the West Coast's gold discovery historyA new book has cast doubt on Albert Hunt's place in history for discovering the first payable gold on the West Coast in 1864 and suggests the reward should have gone to two others.
History records Hunt as the discoverer of gold at Greenstone Creek, and a Historic Places Trust plaque from the 1970s commemorates the find.
However, author Hilary Low says the honour belongs to someone else.www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11743735Regards, Rob (RKC)
