Hi Rob - Do you know of anyone who might want a 6" twin power jet made by Keene's.... Its the one off my dredge and has had a band aid put on to it where it wore a bit by where the power jet is welded to the pipe... the other side could now do with a patch as well - I brought a new one in from keenes as a just in case 3 years ago - I guess I better use it in case I depart from this world .... I also have a Keene 5" suction nozzle brand new that I brought in for a guy that was just dreaming of doing it .... The Nozzle off the floor cost $US220 and a share of the freight was $US75 - at the time the dollar was at .68 making it $430NZ landed mayhap a bit dearer than one made here but it is a well put together unit with a suction breaker/stone restrictor fitted on the front.... I am not going to say what it cost for the freight on the power jet that I got new .. it was supposed to come sea but Keene's just seem to like using air.... probably as it does not cost them. The power jet is the latest 6 inch Non-Clogging type Power Jet with twin 2 inch Jet Logs - bloody handy for when you do get the odd jam up. These things are $US500+ new from Keene's and when it arrived the freight plus GST on it **** near doubled the cost of it. I guess its the old story though - you pay for what you get. I was going to put them up on trade me and may do so if there is noone here interested first. Things have been a bit quiet this way in Naseby not too much river work but enough to keep the interest up - sort of fluctuates like the gold price.... The trommel thing looks better as the years progress.... I remember seeing one at the Shell garage in Cromwell a few years back - went home and thought about it but thought a bit long as it was gone when I rang about it. I think they wanted $5000 neat for it and with it being a trailer towable type this was a good price. It looked a lot like the L&M one. Allan - FudNZ -

G'day Allen,
TradeMe might be the way to go.
Do you remember a thread we both posted on many years ago on the original Alaska Gold Forum about the 600 ounce patch from the Clutha? Although its probably the most well known gold story about modern dredging in New Zealand, there are probably a few people who have not heard it and I thought it would be worth posting about again as the thread on the old Alaska Gold Forum has long ago disappeared into cyber space. How about you doing a post on the story as you know more about it than I do.
Regards, Rob (RKC)

G'day,
Well ... I guess its down to me to write the story about the 600 ounces. I'll start another thread and then others can reply with what they know that I may have not mentioned ... and any mistakes I might make can be corrected.

G'day Homesouth,
I'm looking forward to seeing your photos! A photo of Phils dredge that was run off a jet boat would be especially great for me to see. I once saw the dredge when it was sitting in the water at the Lowburn jewellers shop but never thought to take a photo at the time. If you want to post a photo that has people in it but don't want the faces shown, the simplest way to edit the photo is to open the photo in Paint and use the rubber feature to remove the face.
I once saw the incredible video Phil shot of them dredging underwater at Lowburn into a face, with gold showing everywhere. If that video tape could be converted by someone to digital it would be great to see it on the Internet.

Hi Rob, Going to see if I can get them onto a cd and then.. The video was down at the rocks at the junction of the Kawarau and clutha just below the old bridge. The bucket dredges couldnt get in there and wow did it look good. Only did a day with Phil there before some asswipe stole the pumps and motors. Hoping to see phil this weekend and talk to him about his skite shots. Cheers Mark

G'day Homesouth,
How about getting Phil to tell the story of the 600 ounce patch! All I know is what I was told second or third hand. If he tells it ... then it will be exactly as it happened.

That water looks awfully murky, guys. Sure you could see gold lying everywhere? Hit us with your 600 ounce patch and I guess we will have to have a go at topping it. ;D
