G'day, UK company tries to recover $1mA British investment company is determined to chase down nearly $1 million it ploughed into a West Coast mining venture headed by a Christchurch director.
Shardell Investment Holding, a British Virgin Islands company, put $900,000 into New Zealand's MCAM Ltd in December last year.

G'day, Businessman Mike McDonald remains optimistic in the face of setbacksThe West Coast mining industry could do with some good news and the incurably optimistic Christchurch businessman Mike McDonald must have sounded just the ticket when he started contracting to buy mining permits and real estate about two years ago.
His big plans eventually captured headlines in newspapers such as the Hokitika Guardian, which published claims his company MCAM Minerals would create 200 mine jobs at various sites. The Otago Daily Times last November trumpeted McDonald's plan to spend $88.5 million on developing mines in Southland and the Hokitika and Greymouth areas.www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/business/65139248/Businessman-Mike-McDonald-remains-optimistic-in-the-face-of-setbacksRegards, Rob (RKC)

G'day, Newcomer on West Coast goldmining scene leaves bills unpaid A new player on the West Coast's burgeoning gold mining scene with links to a controversial Christchurch entrepreneur has been barred from its machinery and its mining site because of outstanding debts.
Koura Mining Ltd began mining on the Greenstone River near Kumara about September, hiring equipment from a number of suppliers including mining equipment specialists Geotech and the Porter group. It employed about 40 staff.
After Koura stopped paying some of its bills in November, Geotech removed keys from its machinery working at the Greenstone mine site. And this ... Minerals West Coast manager Phil McKinnel said gold was had been a steady performer and "unsung hero" although stopped short of describing the present climate as a resurgence.
Lower diesel prices and the lower New Zealand dollar had helped make the 60 gold mining operations on the Coast more profitable, he said.www.stuff.co.nz/business/78876902/newcomer-on-west-coast-goldmining-scene-leaves-bills-unpaidRegards, Rob (RKC)
