G'day, Dredge silt plume 'not a worry'SILT plumes seen trailing in Darwin's large tides from the Inpex jetty construction site pose little risk to the marine environment - that's the assurance from the Environment Protection Authority (EPA).
JKC has been preparing the foundations of a jetty for the Inpex Ichthys project at Blaydin Point and last month drove four steel piles into the sea bed.
A high-pressure tube is used to erode the sea bed which produces sediment and rock chips which are discharged back into the water at a rate of 6 cubic metres a minute.www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/dredge-silt-plume-not-a-worry/story-fnk1w5xz-1226796340482Regards, Rob (RKC)
