From: VJG73 (Original Message) Sent: 13/07/2008 9:02 p.m. Hello Some time ago someone posted a picture of a older dredge with an under and over riffle box set up with the fines fed to the top box by a venturi from the primary box. If someone still has a copy of the picture can they repost it. Was the dredge a success. Trying to build an 8 inch triple but width box height is going to be an issue. Cheers

Thanks for posting the pictures. Looks like clearing a blockage down the flare could be an issue. How sucessful were they? Does anyone have any photos of an 8 inch tripple. I have done a few drawings but the Sluce will have to fit down between the pontoons to keep the lift down and the whole thing is going to be as wide as a small building. Thanks again for posting the photos. Cheers

From: RKCNZ Sent: 14/07/2008 11:27 p.m. G'day Vaughan ( VJG73 ) Here is a photo of a triple I built which I copied from the Keene triple being sold at the time (1980s). img.photobucket.com/albums/v172/Coochee/Eductor%20dredges%20and%20equipment/ToEdit2005_080.jpg?t=1216027050 The American Gold dredge sounds good in theory and should work OK. There was a similar dredge to the American dredge built in Otago by a Kiwi in the early 90s which I had a look at when it was offered for sale in Queenstown ... not sure how well it worked however. I'll try and find a photo of the Keene triple and will post it tomorrow if I have any luck. Great photos of the Otago triples, ELWO. Regards, Rob (RKC)

There is no need to worry about blockages as everything is classified that goes into the sump. With mine, it was easy to access anything that got blocked in the main jet.

From: lloyd Sent: 15/07/2008 7:18 a.m. Just checked out the pics. All of them had the sump halfway up the sluice. modern dredges that pump into a fine recovery system all put the sump right at the end of the sluice.

We built a version of Keenes 3 in 1 box for an 8" we converted from a triple, think Rob has a pic somewhere. It worked brilliantly on fine gold and I mean pepper. We used to swear by the triple system but are now converts to the 3 in 1. I think the engineering company that fabricated it for us still has dimensions etc will try to get them if anybody wants them.
Cheers.

From: RKCNZ Sent: 18/07/2008 2:58 p.m. G'day Mark (homesouth2), I did a web search to find out what a "3 in 1 box" was and could not find a single reference to it .. until I found this on the Keene web site www.keeneeng.com/images/pamphletImages/3stagesl.gif. Looks interesting, I can't recall ever seeing a dredge in New Zealand with a "box" such as this. Regards, Rob (RKC)

Hi Rob, Yep thats the one. I found a side veiw on their website and um sorta copied that. It worked brilliantly until someone decided they needed it more than me! What was left has since been stolen again from mosgiel. Only bit left now is one of the sets of riffles the police have for evidence.
