Gidday Team.
We have struck the DoC. Public Liability problem. $1,000,000 Public Liability Insurance needed to complete our Access Agreement with DoC.
Can anyone who has been there please advise. John, I see your posting back in 2014, how did you get on. ?
We have taken over a Year dealing with the Bureaucrats and our one last hurdle is the Bloody bizzare requirement to have $1,000,000 Insurance for something that we have done all of our Lives and have never had one issue or occurrence that could be labeled as "concerning" let alone requiring Insurance. What could possibly occur or happen that would be remedied by $1,M Insurance. Bugger. Have to play the game. Please, can anyone help with this.

Hi roughau, Is this for a dredging permit? From what I understand DOCs jurisdiction ends at the creek side of the Marginal Strip. Linz looks after the creeks and rivers. At one stage they wanted access agreements to walk over the strip to get to the river. Whitebaiters dont need or pay this. Maybe a case where they have asked for it and someone has coughed up so they continue. Others here will be more knowledable than me. Its been a while since I have had a dredging permit, all land based now.

Hi Roughau & Homesouth, they are moving the goal post as you get further along with processing your right to work your claim. It took Linz two years to come back with their consent compliance and with it came an invoice for over $400 I have not paid that and when they remind me, will tell them to send their invoice to P&M as they are the only landlords we will be paying rent. As for Public liability, I ended up getting a fair deal from John Burke of AON after getting an estimate of nearly $800 from the same insurance company that he works for here in Nelson. His ended up with gst added, just over $500 and I don't think it can be purchased for less anywhere else. When I first started down this road, I was quoted $7000.00 and I even went to Australia to get quotes from over there. And that's how I ended up with John Burke, a great guy to speak with too. Here is his email addy; john.d.burke@aon.com We all should band together and appoint one of our members to approach Govt over this issue; someone like Shane Jones or even Winnie. Anyway, there you have it and I hope you get to where you want to be in the near future. Good luck, Merry Christmas to all and Families, Regards, addergran

Gidday Gold Blokes.
It is a bit confusing on our Dredging Jobs. Everyone is "gold Bloke".
Many thanks for you input with this. We have got John Burke on the Job. He is on Leave until the 16 Jan. He is such a great Bloke that he will try to get into the Office on the 7th and get the paper work done. It would be nice to be Dredging by the 10th or 11th.
I think the same as you both on these matters. At the moment, we have to play the game to get Dredging, but I will certainly taking these matters a bit further. It is bloody extortion. In China you have to pay the Government Officials to get anything done. Isn't this just the same.
