Hi Mark The crux of it is its costing them 1.5M every 6 months for the alluvial guys paperwork seemly we cost more than the petroleum sector ! that gives a good indication as to how messy things are up there they are expecting us to pay for there mess & in 2019 another review is taking place with the expectation permit holders will get another payrise to cover the shortfall + interest . Also brought up the fact no miners live in wellington & suggested a more appropriate place to have a meeting would be Otago or the coast I was told perhaps a meeting could be arraigned via a telly conference . Was any of this info available when they did the recent review ? Cheers.

Hi Phill and Rob,
Rob first, the earlier report etc was for the oil guys (big corporates) they got their fees lowered. The government wanted them here.
Phill, they are the architects of their own problems, they wrote the policy and the laws, dont believe for an instant that politicians wrote the laws. Now they find they the bureaucracy is so over bloated us clowns, miners, sorry permit participants no longer provide enough for their troughs.
They have squandered a fortune on stuffing up the process. I can remember a mining licence costing $600 and the application was a photocopied 1 page 2 sided piece of paper. Job done.
They squandered a fortune on the online access to old reports, its a nightmare now trying to get a report if you do manage to do it. Before they "fixed" it it was simple.
They continually print helpful guide books that are no friggn use other than to inform their own staff, they look flash though. Pretty sure we pay for an in house publicity dept.
They continually waste time with their computer system spitting out ****ty letters about unmet obligations and what they are going to do to you.
Try calling them on their 0800 number, you might get a return call that week if it isnt too complicated.
This is going to be self perpetuating, higher costs less applications, less applicatons the higher the cost, will have to put the price up .....
I know, how about firing a few of the incompetent clowns from the top down. That will decrease costs.
I could spend all day having a rant, Im bored now.

The 300% escalation of rates represents an deflation of competence. We should abolish all government departments. We have shackled the world and put fools in charge.

If only everyone could stand united. Hand in all permits. Then they would have ZERO income. Plus no income for the country via mining. Would keep the Greens happy. Then again the way things are these days would the current govt even care?

It would be interesting to request information as to how $ is getting spent through the public information act ? Perhaps this information should be requested every year & posted on here after all its our money getting spent shouldn't we have the wright to know how its being used ? I wonder how many staff are employed by NZPAM to process our paper work surely the 1.5m they say they are loosing every 6 months is in wages ?
