Many thanks for posting.
Its good to hear that I am not alone in thinking that our History
and Heritage is being robbed, while the "non-productive, debt
funded, over fattened civil leaders, pose in the media, to
justify their non-productivity.
I found articles about the Submarine. You are quite right.
Here on the West Coast, from where almost all of New Zealands
mineral wealth initially came from, our history and heritage
has been exported out in "scrap wagons and trucks".
It is still happening today. I seen a wonderful old electric
ex-underground Coal Cutter on a scrap truck only a few
months ago. (Mine was electric in 1908).
Bloody criminal.
Interestingly, the scrap trucks only go up the Govt Mine during
weekends, and therefore, are un-supervised. (lots of other
"stuff" is under the scrap).
Nearly the whole of our Heritage and History has been
stolen in this manner. Yet, as you so accurately state,
Historic Places and the Dept of CON, descend on the
minor crap, like protecting tailings and bottles.
With that Lunacy in mind.......
Our future generations, could be, being robbed of History
and Heritage because our generation are not producing
tailings
??.
In fact, with our seriously over-regulated, and with so much
non-productive Govt interference, we have destroyed the
essential entrepreneurs, and risk takers, that are so
vital to our economic well-being.
In truth, the very name "entrepreneur", has very negative connotations, in this very odd, over regulated
economic system.
See ... "Grey River Dredge to finish" on this Forum.
I once attempted a Historical restoration of the wonderful
Charming Creek Horse-drawn Trams, and got slammed and
shafted by the over-bloated and self-pretentious,
"protectors of everything".
